BIOGRAPHY

Chantell Smith Limerick joined the 小猪视频官网 College faculty in 2016 and is an associate professor of Spanish.

AWARDS AND GRANTS

In 2021, she was selected as a grantee for the Fulbright-Hayes Seminars Abroad program where she studied African heritage in Mexico. In 2022 she received the Kirk Award for Excellence in Teaching.

RESEARCH

Limerick鈥檚 teaching and research interests include contemporary Latin American narrative,  Afro-Hispanic studies and African Diaspora studies. One of her main interests is historical fiction written by women of color in the Americas, and she investigates how the genre of historical fiction has the power to address silences and myths in the historical record. More broadly, she is interested in making transnational connections among African-American, Afro-Latin American, and Afro-European writers and artists.
